Despite being left with nothing but seven Wolf Riders a somewhat depleted block of Big 'Uns at the end of this battle, I think it actually went fairly well. In fact, had we continued for a few more turns, I think I could very well have come out with a draw or even a marginal victory. Skeletons and Zombies are hard pressed to seriously hurt a Big 'Un, and combat resolutions would most likely have turned in my favour.

Tactically speaking, this was probably the most interesting game I've ever played. I'd never had to face enemy flyers before, and it proved quite difficult to contain them. All the fliers were loaded onto one flank, and I ended up collapsing my troops backwards into a semicircle to try to fend them off. It actually didn't work too badly, mainly on account of my defenders being fast cavalry. If I'd had something more useful than a chariot to back them up, things might even have worked out in my favour.

Having just come off a rather substantial victory, I used the same list I had in my last engagement. As it turned out, some units weren't really suited to dealing with the Undead. Chariots, in particular, are next to worthless. They almost invariably need to pass a leadership test to charge, and they fail too often to be considered effective. Squigs are a bit of a problem as well. They can carve through enemy ranks if they make it into combat, but all it takes is one unit fleeing by to send Squigs flying everywhere. Even Fanatics are reduced in effectiveness, as the enemy never has to take a panic test. Still, they're indispensable for dealing with Black Knights and Grave Guard - a pity my adversary opted not to use any!
