Commanded by Scott MacNaughton

Welcome to the corner of The General's Retreat reserved for everyone's favorite Greenskins, the Orcs & Goblins. I suppose I should start by explaining why I've opted to collect this army. In short: I didn't choose them, they chose me. My brother acquired the Warhammer 6th Edition boxed set, which contains about 40 Orc & Goblin miniatures along with about the same number of troops for The Empire. My brother had an interest in starting an Empire army, but the Orcs & Goblins were of no use to him so he passed them along to me. I was building up the beginnings of a Chaos army at the time, but with such a sizeable number of Orcs placed before me, it only made sense to shift my focus.

Initially, I unfortunately found the Greenskin troops a bit dull. I even debated abandoning them altogether until I sat down one day with my copy of Ravening Hordes and discovered Squigs. Yes, Squigs have completely changed my opinion. For those unfamiliar, a Squig is basically a massive set of teeth on two stubby little feet. Under control, they can be rather unpleasant and mount a remarkably effective attack. The real fun starts when they get loose though, as they begin to literally spring randomly around the battlefield. This factor of unpredicatble amusement led me to Fanatics, Doom Divers and other such wacky units. No, fielding these is not necessarily the best way to win, and can be quite frustrating at times when things go badly. It's absolutely mayhem when it all goes right though, and can be a heck of a lot of fun regardless of the outcome.

As you'll see from my battle history, I'm not exactly the most successful general. In fact, my record presently stands at a dismal 25% win percentage. I think my tactical reasoning is sound though, as I've recommended very effective approaches to others. The inherent unreliability of my troops seems to be the most significant hurdle I need to overcome, with bad dice rolls coming in a very close second!
