| This summer was the first chance we had to see the renovations completed on Sandy and Gordy's cottage. You can take the word of an ardent renovator when I say that they did an outstanding job on the place. The open architecture and use of natural woods has created a rustic look which blends with the waterfront as well as the entry/parking area. In essence they have turned a small cottage into a two story home complete with upper and main level decks and front porch. Sandy will readily admit that as with any project of this size there is still a lot that she wants to do before they can say the job is finished. | |

| The story on the shed goes that the siding they used has traveled with them for years. Finally the perfect opportunity to use it presented itself in the makeover of the shed. One day Sandy would like to obtain more and connect the two sheds with a covered firewood storage area between the structures. I hope she can acquire more siding for this project because the look would be dramatic . | ![]() |

One drawback to a waterfront property like this is the shore's susceptibility to change. The property has lost several meters of grassed area due to wave action against the shore during bad weather. The large rocks in this photo were transported here by a local contractor last winter in an effort to slow and or stop this process. Additionally, Gordy has started planting willows in the shallows in an effort to allow the beach to hold on to sand deposited by the waves. |
| All of the effort
has paid off. Laurie, Jen and Kathy are right at home on the secluded beach after a swim in the warm water. We had
a fire on the beach one evening. It helped to be down off of the grass and
away from the mosquitoes and black flies, the smoke from the fire kept
this area relatively bug free.

| Several years ago they bought the cottage between their property and the main roadway. Sandy now uses it as her studio and venue to display and sell her creations as well as Gordy 's paintings. It also doubles as an overflow sleep area for the many visitors they get during the summer months. Laurie and I slept in the screened veranda quite comfortably one night during our stay. | ![]() |

This would be Spike. As far as Spike is concerned all of this is here for Spike's personal use. |
| While our stay was short, the weather hot and the mosquitoes very hungry, our visit was completely enjoyable. We are looking forward to the next chance to head out to the lake and enjoy the lovely home they have created. | |
