Alberta Relay Races
Jasper Banff Relay

Located in the Canadian Rockies covering the Columbia Ice fields parkway between Jasper
and Lake Louise and the Bow Valley parkway between Lake Louise and Banff the JB Relay
was
the authors favorite race. This race covered over 175 miles running at
elevations between 3000 ft to nearly 7000 ft. It attracted an international field of both
elite athletes and stronger recreational runners. Jasper Banff Relay ran their
last full race in June of 2000 due to a variety of logistical and bureaucratic obstacles. The

Banff - Calgary Relay

This 90 mile relay starts in the Rockies and descends out through the
foothills finishing in the Bow and Elbow River Valleys in the heart of Calgary, Alberta
site of the 88 Winter Olympics and 97 World Police and Fire games.

Kananaskis 100
| Beginning in Longview Alberta and traveling uphill along the Highwood River the K100
summits at Highwood Pass at over 7000 ft before
descending into Kananaskis Country and finishing at the Nakiska Ski Resort. Over 150 teams

Banff Mountain Ekiden relay
This five person 42 km relay is a unique event that has the best post race of any the
local relays. Its good meal, timely results, quality door prizes for low cost make this a
popular relay for elite and recreational runners alike. Run within the local area of
Banff its star shaped stages make the common transition area exciting for spectators to watch.
Cross Calgary Relay
A scenic 58 km course from the NW part of Calgary to the SE corner along the
city park and pathway system. Legs range from 7 to 15 km individually and have a
variety of level and hilly sections. A beautiful course that includes the
majority of the top pathways to run in the city. See previous results and course
