Weekly News Update 02/12/02The importance of a regular rest week is often overlooked in a good training program. At least once per month, and for some, perhaps every second or third week you should take in a rest week where you cut back to 50-67% of your normal volumes. It gives the body time to readjust and prepare for increases the weeks after. You should make sure that you are taking rest weeks even when feeling healthy and fresh and resist the urge to keep pushing if you have not had a rest week in a while. Race ReportsNone.This weeks TrainingStrength week is over and I hope it went well for everyone. I know that I was happy with my week and am looking forward to this week. This week is REST week, everyone should cut back a bit on Volume and Intensity. Triathletes should make sure they get more swim time to rest from the last few weeks of building. The runners should take some time to get in some easy base runs. Next week is a Volume week so we want to make sure that you are feeling completely ready to get back to building.
