
Maria has had a diverse career before becoming a lawyer. She was a journalist, a technical writer and a civil servant in the Philippines. She also worked in customer service for the banking and telecommunications industries in Canada.
Maria graduated from the University of Calgary and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2008.
She has been a guest speaker at various gatherings on such topics as family law, matrimonial property law, and the rights of new immigrants to Canada.
She has recently been elected to the Board of the YWCA Lethbridge and District. Her term begins in August 2010. She continues to provide pro bono legal services as a volunteer lawyer for Lethbridge Legal Guidance.
Her preferred areas of practice are family law, civil litigation, real estate, and estate planning.
