Fort
Calgary was established in 1875 by the North West Mounted Police. Colonel J.
F. McLeod named it Fort Calgary after his ancestral estates in the Hebrides.
Calgary was incorporated as a town in 1884 and as a city in 1893. The population
is rapidly approaching one million.

The Pengrowth Saddledome with downtown Calgary in the background. The Saddledome
is used for many events such as Flames Hockey, Ice Capades, Figure skating,
Concerts etc.

is Dinny the Dinosaur one of many dinosaurs constructed for the displays of
prehistoric animals etc. at the Calgary Zoo. The Calgary Zoo is situated on
St.George's Island, an island in the Bow River.

This paddlewheeler is a replica of the original SS Moyie. In the background
is Heritage Park. Heritage Park, as the name implies, has exhibits of the past;
train rides, wagon rides and other interesting attractions for the public.
The sport of Hot Air Ballooning is very popular in Calgary. This photograph
depics a close call due to lack of fuel. This balloon is above VE6VK's KT34XA
beam. Calgary is said to be second to Albuquerque for this activity.
