Poodles have been a part of my life for greater than 26 years. I have had the pleasure of caring for them in my veterinary practice and having them as constant companions and family members.
I have been an actively practicing companion animal veterinarian for 33 years. My husband and I established Mills Haven Veterinary Clinic Ltd. in 1977 and more recently (December 2001) built a new facility which is home to five veterinarians, six animal health technologists, six receptionists, two groomers, one dog obedience instructor, and a constant flow of veterinary and technical students whom we thoroughly enjoy mentoring. We are presently serving third generation clients and subsequently have clientele ranging in age from mid teens to early nineties. It is truly a pleasure to go to work everyday.
Our prefix of Vetset (CKC permanently
registered) resulted from the fact that my husband and I are both veterinarians.
To date we have to our credit 59 Canadian champions, 29 American champions,
3 International champions, 33 obedience titles, 4 agility titles, 2 scent
hurdling titles, 5 rally titles, and one working on her hunt title.
Our dogs have excelled in the conformation ring, obedience ring, and especially
in the home. Some of our most well known dogs are Am Ch BPIS Can
Ch OTCh Vetset Ever Ready Am CD T.P. "Paul" (best Standard Poodle stud
dog PCA 2000 and sire of 61 champions), BIS Am Ch MBIS Can Ch Vetset
Forever Young T.P. "Mel" (#1 Poodle all varieties, #1 Non Sporting dog,
#3 All breeds in Canada 1999), and Am Ch MBIS RBIS MBPIS GCh Can Ch Vetset
Happy Days "Joanie" (all time top winning Standard Poodle puppy and youngest
Poodle ever to obtain Can GCh status).
