Communities In Bloom is Canada's program to recognize community participation in projects involving beautification, heritage and environmental
awareness. After Forestburg's win last year they were invited to participate in a new event this year by partnering with another community and they chose Heisler. After careful consideration and some discussion with residents, Village Council decided to participate in the competition. This contest will
consist of each community, Heisler and Forestburg, being judged on community involvement in programs of urban beautification with emphasis on the variety and use of trees, shrubs, and flowers, the appearance and upkeep of public and private green spaces and residential gardens, environmental awareness, tidiness and the care and protection of heritage buildings and sites. Our points would then be combined and compared to other partner communities across the county.

While keeping our Village clean and pleasant for everyone to enjoy is important, Council would like to put our emphasis on getting involved and having fun while we all pull together for this project. As
Forestburg's committee members said, if we can get people involved and enjoying themselves we have
already won and the contest is secondary.
