TECHNICAL ILLUSTRATOR 
Certificate/Diploma Program 

The Technical Illustrator program at Medicine Hat College is a unique program to Canada, that combines the technical and artistic skills of an individual into one program. 

The Program 

A Technical Illustrator is an individual that can use his/her creative artistic skills to supplement or enhance the basic technical knowledge required by today's industry. There is a demand within industry to find new methods of marketing products or skills in a very competitive work environment. 

A Technical Illustrator uses the computer to design three-dimensional objects, create animation and use multi-media presentations to help industry promote their ideas and products. The Technical Illustrator would also use his/her technical and artistic skills to generate more meaningful manuals, photo realistic computer models, drawings, graphs and prototypes in order to meet the requirements of industry. 

Upon successful completion of all first year courses, the student will be granted a one year certificate in Computer Aided Drafting. On completion of the second year the student will receive a Technical Illustrator Diploma. 

Admission Requirements 

1. High School Diploma with 50% (C) or better standing in English 30 or 33, Math 30 or 33 (or equivalent) and credit standing in a grade 12 science, preferably Physics 30. 

2. Students who have successfully completed the first year of the CADD program at Medicine Hat College or equivalent program elsewhere may enroll in the 2nd year of the Technical Illustrator program. 
 

Graduation Requirements 

Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 
Successful completion of the program with no failures or incompletes in the required courses
