One of the early Canadian Fullblood Blonde Herdsires in the breed. As a yearling, Hector Bur Jo bred 65 cows under hand-breeding conditions. He puts a distinct frame and conformation on all his offspring. His gestation length hovers very close to the 286 days. He is an easy calver and a bull we consider for heifers. Hector has been used extensively in the herd, and all his calves have tested 1/29 Normal. Although an older sire he has a DNA Case No. DC55538. Gershwin is a deep bodied, easy-keeping bull who, after 11 years of service in three different herds, has never needed his feet trimmed. He is an extremely easy calving bull. Commercial operator, Gerry Stokes, had in excess of 200 calves with an average birth weight of 84.3 lbs and stated, "he never touched a calf at birth". Gershwin has a good disposition and handles easily.Gershwin comes from a family with longevity built in. His Grand Dam, Syms Griff Jo, produced at West Winds until she was 17 years of age. His maternal sister, West Winds Frieda 147F, was High Selling Female at the 1999 Pick O' the West Sale. A maternal brother, West Winds Longfellow 147L, was chosen for export to Mexico at 10 months of age.
