My Links
The “norm” on the Web
dictates that I give you here a few links that will allow you to
explore my interests on the Web. I fail to understand the relevance. I
would rather maintain my individuality.
Now, don’t you go thinking that I am trying to
conceal a supposed depravation? I have nothing to hide, I’d rather give
you generic information, and if I did not answer some of your
questions, do not hesitate to contact me at the address below.
Nonetheless, I will give you some links of the
people for whom I have done work, and some references. (Do come back,
this list is bound to get longer.)

And if you are a translator snooping around or a potential customer
looking for translation in a language other than French, you might be
interested in InfoMarex's Panel of
Translators. A very active and efficient gathering place for people
in the trade, and for those in search of a translator but not wanting
to
spend hours looking. (Do mark my page nonetheless, you might need
French one of these days.)

Projects
q
I must say, the project closest to my heart at the moment is my
house. Built in 1904, it is older than the province of Alberta and I
intend to make it the “sweet home” I can enjoy when the time comes
q
Meanwhile, I have in mind a dictionary of sorts… I say no more,
may be some day you will see here a link that will lead you to it. I
promise you one thing: it will be entertaining
q
At the same time, I work to perfect my art (that of translation).
Whenever feasible, I participate in workshops, attend classes, read magazines or browse the Net looking for appropriate
sites such as for example
Translatortips ,
which unpretentious conviviality, I must admit, was a pleasant surprise.
Biographical Information
Born and raised in France,
I completed
my secondary education in a private institution. My service in the Air
force
completed, I immigrated to Canada where I first lived in Quebec before
settling
in English Canada. In 1986 I pursued a university education at the
University
of Alberta – Faculté Saint-Jean, then taught French Language
Arts
and French as a second language in Edmonton, Strathcona, Leduc (AB),
and
Yellowknife (TNO). Since 1992, I devote all my time to translation and
interpreting.

Completed Assignments
Translation
Many
varied translation works have I done (cookbooks, self-help books,
pamphlets,
brochures, letters, medical reports, court judgments, etc.), and
research
papers from the University of Alberta (Impact of child poverty –
Education
/ Survey – Business / constitutional amendments – Students
Association),
as well as the Constitution and Amendments for the creation of the Angela
Petrone Stratiy trust fund by the Canadian Cultural Society for the
Deaf, the Help files some years ago on the AltaVista Canada Search
site, and the Help files of the Cimplicity software of GE Fanuc.
Unfortunately my
name
does not appear on those and you have to take my word for it or get in
touch
with me to obtain the names and contact information of the proper
individuals. However, to achieve this kind of fame I am open to
negotiation, and given a reasonable delay, I would be willing to
undertake such an assignment
at a killer price.
Interpreting
This all
started with interpreting in the Court of Law in Edmonton (province of
Alberta
in Canada). Since then I have offered such services in numerous
settings
and on several occasions, from examination for discovery in a lawyer’s
office, to consecutive interpreting for one individual (speaker or
participant), and cabin work for several hundred of persons. Some of
these events were low key, others of international scope.

Personal
Interests
They are varied. On of
them is trying to trace my genealogy, a fascinating endeavour but not
as easy as one would expect in spite of a name like mine. I also do
volunteer
work in my community and I sit on the Board of a school
devoted to teaching English to new immigrants in Canada..
